Major research interests

  • Temperatur structure of the atmosphere at mid-latitudes between troposphere and lower thermosphere
  • Temperature variability due to gravity waves, tides and planetary waves
  • Noctilucent clouds at mid-latitudes: Occurrence, variability and temperature dependance
  • Development of turbulence soundings in the stratosphere with LITOS
  • Continuous development of RMR lidars at Kühlungsborn  (daytime temperature and wind soundings) and maintenance of the various lidars for temperature, aerosol and metal soundings
  • Maintenance of the radiosonde station
  • Delegate for EU research funding
