The two MATS Albedo photometers on PMWE will test the instrument concept and analysis technique in support of the upcoming Swedish middle atmosphere research satellite MATS (Mesospheric Airglow/Aerosol Tomography and Spectroscopy) scheduled for launch in 2019. These downward-looking photometers provide daytime measurements of upwelling radiation (albedo) in support of the MATS Limb Imager (one of the two main instruments on MATS). They measure infrared radiation within (around 762 nm) and outside (around 754 nm) the O2 Atmospheric Band (A-band).
