Swarm DISC- The Swarm Data, Innovation, and Science Cluster

The Swarm DISC (Swarm Data, Innovation, and Science Cluster) is an international consortium established with the aim to enhance the scientific return of the Swarm satellite mission. The tasks of the Swarm DISC include processing and dissemination of Swarm Level 1b and Level 2 data products, communication activities, as well as identifying, selecting and running new Swarm products, tools, and services. The Swarm DISC project is funded by ESA through contract No. 4000109587/13/I-NB.

IAP Activities within DISC:

  • Ionospheric Bubble Probability Model: Based on CHAMP and Swarm detections of post-sunset equatorial plasma irregularities in the magnetic field, an empirical model through parameter estimation (IBP_CLI_2) has been developed. For given day of year, local time, longitude, and solar flux, the model predicts the occurrence probability of these irregularities that are known to severely affect GNSS radio communication.
  • Public Outreach
  • Space Weather applications

You can sign up for the Swarm DISC newsletter (on the top, right of the Swarm DISC ITTs) to receive notification when new ITTs, clarifications or Open Calls related to the Swarm mission are published.
