Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics

The Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) is a research institute of the Leibniz Association with research focus on the middle atmosphere (details are in the Scientific Framework Program). It is connected with the teaching and research programme of the University of Rostock through a close cooperation. The scientists of the three departments are engaged in numerous national and international research activities. A wide scientific and technical expertise together with an advance infrastructure and modern equipment offer excellent research conditions. The IAP is funded in equal parts from federal and state sources, its annual budget is about 7 Mio Euro and it employs (status mid of 2019) about 80 people, including 18 PhD students. It realizes an equal-opportunity and family-friendly human resource policy and is certified with the audit "berufundfamile" ('career and family').
